Here are the steps that work for me!

1. Wash your hair with a shampoo and conditioner that will deeply moisturize your hair.

2. Towel dry your hair, but do not vigorously rub, and next put in a heat protection spray to stop your hair from getting damaged, when using heating tools.

3. I would next recommend to put in a mouse to help with straightening your hair, I have heard that "Herbal Essences, Dangerously Straight", works well but I am yet to try it. Make sure you work the product through the hair with a wide-toothed comb.

4. Then take a paddle brush and a blowdrier with a directional nozzle as this will concentrate the air flow and cut down the frizz. Blowdry your hair using these tools.

5. Once your hair is dry go over the hair using a good ceramic straightener.

6. Finish by spraying your hair with a Strong Hold Hairspray.

I have the same hair! I put in serum when it's wet, then I blow dry my hair on a hot heat, pointing the hairdryer in a downwards direction. This will make the hair smoother .. Point the nozzle all the way to the ends of your hair - it gets rid of all the kinks to the end. When you finish run a little more serum over your hair to fix it.

If you have curly hair to your waist, u can probably afford to lose some length. Ur hair will probably look a lot healthier. Try about right below your chest. Thats a good length for curly hair, and its still pretty long.

I had short hair a few times, and I had to spend about 30 minutes straightening it every day lest it look like Napoleon Dynamite. Shoulder length with a few layers can be pretty. Frizzing serum and pomade will keep the poof down.

It has more of a fun vibe now and is a ton easier to manage. I wouldn't go much shorter than that though because it can end up like a huge puffball if you are not careful.

my natural hair is wild and unruly, so i usually always straighten it, but when i wanted to get big pretty curls like people i had seen i tried to manage my natural curl, and nothing seemed to ever work.

a friend of mine does really pretty curls and doesnt even use hairspray, and she just wraps her hair around her straightener and curls it...this doesnt work for me, but for her its really nice, maybe it has to do with the straightener quality.

i would spray each piece individually if your hair doesnt hold well, but if it does seem to hold than just spray your whole head after you're done!

I have used an over the counter no-lye relaxer with great results. My hair was wavy before, with frizzy tendencies. Now, it's straight after I blowdry. i have to warn you, one or two of the ideas i have use curlers, but in the end, they can create a wavy look:

buy those soft curlers and sleep in them. it is soooo easy and you save so much time in the morning. you just take them out and only brush the top of your hair otherwise you brush right through the curls. and for looser, messier, waves/curls, you separate each curl in two. it is a more casual, less shirley temple look.

then for wavier waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......

and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.

i have really curly hair also. you could get some subtle highligts, leave in an olive oil mask (straight extra virgin cold pressed olive oil) for as long as you want to make it extra shiny, try a semi premanent dye or get layers to change your look.

most people go through a stage, or are still in a stage where they want somebody else's hair. but it is unrealistic to expect to get somebody else's hair and for it to still look good because of your facial shape, skin tone etc. it might not look as good.

Getting a perm will not define your curl, It will change your natural texture, don't do it!. Try washing,and blow drying with a paddle brush(not the one with the soft bristles) then try flat ironing it. Also you could google black hair care. Good Luck !

My niece has thick red curly (Frizzy) hair she straightens it all the time. If you buy one from a salon it heats up faster and ask about the best products to protect from damage and your specific hair type.. Oh also she try's to stay away from moisture %26amp; some conditioners because they add to much moisture causing more curls. i have the exact same kind of hair as you...i don't know what race you are, but i am caucasian, and my hair looks like bi-racial hair. my hairdresser has a bi-racial daughter, and she suggested that i use some products from sally's (or any other beauty salon product store) that are really for african-american hair. it won't make your hair greasy either. for the little fuzzy baby hairs on the top of your hair (like near your part if you have one), you can use something with shea butter in it, it will soften your hair and moisturize your scalp. there is also a lock and twist gel to help make your curls smoother. if your scalp is itchy (from having super-thick hair), you can try something with tea tree oil in it. DON'T CUT IT ALL OFF! i did once, and it looked awful. if anything, just keep it trimmed up well to get rid of the split-ends, which for me, causes a lot of of the knots. good luck!

I love the products, as I live on the coast around Houston, and it is so humid here. I also use a hair glosser to smooth over my hair when it is almost dry. These products have greatly increased the spiral curl effect, and made my hair healthier and shinier when I use them.

I now use a combo of stuff instead of sticking with one brand. I never blow dry my hair. I instead shower in the mid of the night and use an old hair cap to hold my hair. I use the Shine stuff by John freida. and I take a vitamin B. I never use Hair Gel or stuff that dries my hair out. (most of them are alcohol based, and horrible to curly hair), Its a tough road to travel and straight haired people think we get up in the morning and have our hair done. Sheesh

You might try Mario Tricoci. They have a pretty intensive training program for their designers. You could just pop into some of your area salons and take a look around. A hairdresser with hair similar to yours is going to understand what kind of problems you have with getting it cut. We have people come in our salon all the time just to take a look. When they see someone doing the kind of work they like, they feel more comfortable having that designer work on their hair. It's also common in most better salons to provide free consultations. Some will take walk-ins but some still prefer an appointment. Call a salon or two and make an appointment for a consultation with someone who has plenty of experience with curly hair. Once you talk to the designer it will be easier to decide if he/she understands your needs. Then you can make an appointment later if you want to. This way, if you don't like the person that gives you the consultation you're under no obligation. If you're not comfortable saying no thanks you can just say, "Thanks, I'll check my schedule" and be on your way to the next designer.
