I know curly hair is annoying but you will eventually have to realize you can not change it with out damaging it. Be different, be yourself. NONE of the curly hair stuff really works unless you get it permanently straightened which might make your hair break and fall out. Oh, yeah and I cut and do my own hair because most hairstylists are not trained on really curly hair.

Since your hair is thick use a lot of conditioner and let it sit on your hair for at least 10 min. not using a lot around your scalp or you will make it oily then rinse and brush straight while you dry or until it dries..

have you considered repairing the damage to your hair first? then maintaining it properly so you can use flat irons? the only way to relax your hair is with chemicals, or with heat ie: flat iron or blow dry, there is no magic shampoo i'm sorry, why not love your hair the way it is? i would kill for curls, they are so sexy, when looked after properly that is!

I also have thick curly hair, and take it from someone who knows your pain...straightening curly hair isn't easy! What I would suggest is after washing it, put some John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Hair serum through your damp hair, and then spray in his Frizz Ease Straight Answer Straightening Spray. After that, pull your hair back into a low ponytail, and then twist it around into a bun and secure it with a bobby pin. After it is dry, take the bobbypin out, and let your hair loose. It won't be completely straight, but it will look significantly straighter! I have found that all of John Frieda's Frizz Ease straightening and conditioning products work really well. Good luck, and happy straightening!

My mom used to do this with her curly hair:

wash your hair or get it wet

get some really big clips (like the kind they have at the haircutter's)

divide your hair up into sections

then take the sections/strips and pull them to the opposite part of the head then where they currently are, then clip them

that way they dry flat!!

hopefully this will help!

**afterwors i would rub some hair syrum on there to give your hair a shiny effect
