Does thinning work for thick curly hair?

I have shoulder length, thick, curly hair. I want to get it thinned when i go to the hairdressers soon, but i dont know if it will make it easier for me to straighten it? Also what would be a good hairstyle, i would wear it straight, i would like to keep the length, and i want an individual style, not too crazy though, pleease any suggestions, it would be much appreciated!!

I definitely wouldn't reccomend thinning it. I have thick, long, curly hair, and I thinned it out once - It made my hair extremely frizzy and wavy. Try getting it cut in layers, instead. Maybe some cute side bangs, depending on your face shape. Put some highlights or something in it if you're wanting a change.

okay, that sounds good, but for da hairstyle, you should part your hair in da middle, and then french braid it from the bottom half way up, then french braid it from the top, till they meet, and ponytail them, it is SO CUTE!!!!

I tried that before but it didn't do much. It got thick like after a week. You have to find a salon that knows how to cut hair so that it gets thinner by itself.

I have my hair thinned every now and it seems like it only lasts about a week or so. I also have gotten my hair cut in long layers, that seems to really help out with the bushiness and frizz. I have super curly and thick hair.
